8-page CD booklet with liner notes by Nicolas Magenham.

In collaboration with Musiques & Solutions, Music Box Records is pleased to present for the first time on CD the original motion picture soundtrack of Roger Kahane's Madly (The Love Mates, 1970) composed by Francis Lai and conducted by Christian Gaubert.

Produced by Alain Delon, written by Mireille Aigroz (Mireille Darc’s real name) and directed by Roger Kahane (Sortie de secours), Madly advocates for sexual freedom (at least from a masculine point of view) and a new conception of the couple.

After the commercial success of Love Story, Alain Delon chose Francis Lai, the famous collaborator of director Claude Lelouch to work on the project. The score features many neoromantic pieces that allow Francis Lai’s melodic talent to shine (combined with Christian Gaubert’s ultra-elegant arrangements). Francis Lai and Christian Gaubert demonstrated the full extent of their talents with Madly.

Restored and remastered by Christophe Hénault, this present edition, also available on digital, features the original LP program (previously issued by Barclay). The 8-page booklet features an essay by Nicolas Magenham discussing the film and the score based on new comments by Francis Lai and Christian Gaubert.
