Michael Mason (Jason Statham) lives a reclusive life on a remote island off the coast of Scotland, living alone in a lighthouse with only his loyal dog for company. Once a week, a young girl named Jesse (Bodi Ray Bresnack) and her uncle deliver supplies to him. One day, when a violent storm nearly causes Jesse to drown as she tries to return to her uncle's boat, Mason doesn't hesitate to risk his life to rescue her. Mason, a former British government special forces operative, and Jesse, who has lost her family, begin to bond?but they are suddenly attacked by the intelligence agency MI6. In fact, Mason had incurred the wrath of former MI6 Director Manafort (Bill Nighy) and had been placed on the government's "kill list." Determined to settle all scores, Mason returns to the UK while protecting Jesse, but MI6's surveillance network and highly skilled assassins lie in wait along the way… The music is composed by David Buckley, who has worked on numerous action films. From the opening scene, the score?featuring a women's chorus that creates a sense of quiet tension?combined with rich, thrilling electronic music, adds depth to the story and stirs the heart.
