"Marie Ward is a powerful female figure of the greatest relevance to us today. Her original and independent outlook, her struggle for freedom and her novel understanding of active religious life were in direct opposition to the prevailing opinions of the time about the role of women." This is how film director and screenwriter Angelika Weber characterizes the eponymous heroine of her first feature film, Marie Ward. It portrays the life of a remarkable woman who rebelled against the intolerance and intrigues of a male-dominated society at the beginning of the 17th century.

The music is sumptuous. It is foreboding and it is triumphant. It is music for the soul. It is Bernstein. Uniquely Bernstein. Unmistakably Bernstein.

While the score (like the film) is largely unknown today, it is a work of such poetry that no film music fan should be without it. This limited edition release contains approximately fifty minutes of music.
