Éric Demarsan makes his stunning entry into the Music Box Records collection. We are proud to announce the premiere CD release soundtrack of acclaimed TV series Hervé Hadmar's Pigalle, La Nuit aired on Canal Plus in 2009.

The French TV series was created by screenwriter Marc Herpoux and director Hervé Hadmar starring Jalil Lespert, Simon Abkarian, Armelle Deutsch, Catherine Mouchet, Éric Ruf, Sara Martins, Yasmine Belmadi, Igor Skreblin and Hubert Koundé. The story is about Pigalle, the famous district of Paris well known for its variety of sex shops and burlesque entertainment places. Pigalle, La Nuit tells the story of Thomas (Jalil Lespert), a young executive from London, discovering during his journey in Paris that his sister (Armelle Deutsch) is a topless dancer in a strip club in Pigalle. She mysteriously disappears and Thomas starts looking for her while two clans battle to control the sex industry in the neighborhood.

Éric Demarsan (Jean-Pierre Melville's L'Armée des Ombres aka Army In The Shadows and Le Cercle Rouge aka The Red Circle) has been working with Hervé Hadmar since TV series Les Oubliées in 2008 and recently on Signature in 2011.

For Pigalle, La Nuit, Hervé Hadmar wanted something romantic, mysterious, nostalgic and above all « the color of night ». The great and marvelous saxophonist Archie Shepp joined them in this fabulous adventure.
This edition includes the song Seventeen composed and performed by Ladytron, the British electronic band from Liverpool.

CD reviews:

Pigalle, La Nuit is an exquisite, dark and hauntingly atmospheric composition. The score presents a cohesive, tense atmosphere with different motifs and themes (…) and become more evident like a puzzle with each listen.” (Stephan Eicke, Cinema Musica)

“Demarsan’s score enhances and embellishes perfectly this series. I love the atmospheres he conjures with the use of strings and also the inclusion of vibes and piano. There are also some nice saxophone solos popping up every so often throughout the work, conveying a romantic and steamy tone. The score sounds apprehensive in places but even within the suspense and edgy atmospherics the listener will still be able to find hints of melodies and fragments of enticing, attractive and haunting themes.” (John Mansell, Movie Music International)
