Quartet Records and El Deseo present the soundtrack album for the eagerly anticipated new collaboration between acclaimed director Pedro Almodóvar and renowned four-time Academy Award–nominated composer Alberto Iglesias (THE CONSTANT GARDENER, THE KITE RUNNER, TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY, PARALLEL MOTHERS).

AMARGA NAVIDAD marks their fifteenth film together, following more than thirty years of intense collaboration and worldwide success with such films as ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER, TALK TO HER, VOLVER and PAIN AND GLORY.

The film explores cinema within cinema and the limits of creativity, as a successful director writes a screenplay based on the personal experiences of those around him—without considering the emotional consequences of his actions.

Alberto Iglesias has composed one of his most intense, emotional, dynamic, and vibrant large-scale orchestral scores—perhaps his finest to date—with echoes of Stravinsky, Ravel, and Debussy.

The album also includes a version of the classic song “Las pequeñas cosas” by Chavela Vargas, performed by Amaia.
